NHL 07

NHL 07 for the pc is pretty much like NHL 06. The hasnt really changed. The commentators are the same Jim Huyson and craig simpson
NHL 06 Repackaged

After playing two games of NHL 07 it's very easy to tell it's a repackage of NHL 06. It's unrealistic to expect a game developer to completely redesign their models and game format in one year, but aside from some interface and on-ice graphics the game hasn't really changed visually. It still uses the same cut-sequences the last game used and even carried over the cut-sequence bugs where in the opposing team's arena, if your time scores, the cut-sequence crowd stands up and claps.
As far as game play, very little has changed there also. The goalies and overall difficulty is still laughable and already I've had to move the difficulty up to the highest level. There are some good changes to the way bodychecks affect puck carriers and how well your player moves along the ice, but in the end, it's still NHL 06.
The sound is the biggest improvement so far. The slapshots and bodychecks no longer sound like explosions, as well the other on-ice sounds are very much improvement and the gritty scratch of the skates is probably the most admirable improvement.
Music is still embarassing, and the commentators don't appear to have updated much of their lines except for adding new player names and a few new metaphors.
Overall the game is still fun to play and has all the players NHL 06 left out. If you didn't buy or even play NHL 06 then it is probably imperative you pick this up. Even though this game could be a patch to 06, it's got everything 06 should've had to begin with. For us PC gamers, it's really our only choice. Marginally worth the price on the box.
VISUAL: 9/10 (even though identical to 06 it still looks good - loses points for cartoonishly-sized players)
SOUND: 10/10 (Great improvement)
GAMEPLAY: 6/10 (zone improvements and puck handling are the big winners here, returning crappy AI is the big loser)
STABILITY: 8/10 (stable, but loses points for yet again being incompatible with SLI)
REPLAY VALUE: 10/10 (hockey fans will always pick it up for at least the duration of an 82 game season)
