Description
Just in case you didn't know, the Tony Hawk's series is the best skateboarding sim ever--and now, with the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, even more so. As many of you young hipsters may be aware, skateboarding is taken far more seriously nowadays than any child of the '70s could ever imagine, with legions of baggily trousered youths now able to refer to moves such as a "bluntside" or "overcrook" with a perfectly straight face. Indeed, the list of silly names for ridiculously dangerous stunts has been increased for this latest sequel, and you now have the added ability to skitch (hold onto the back of a moving car) and grind through traffic. Such minor additions aside, though, the big new change is the career mode, which now has specific goals and milestones for all the different skaters and really adds to the replayability.
Curiously, the graphics are still not particularly good, with the same slightly muddy, undefined look to them that the developers presumably now think is all part of the fun. They have however thankfully realized that having time limits for the levels was unnecessary and, except for a few specific missions, you've now got all the time in the world to graze your knees and cave in your skull. This is looking, as the kids on the street say, "sick." --David Jenkins

Great Skateboarding Game! Great Replay Value!

This is the newest Tony hawk Pro Skater game (Not counting Tony Hawks Underground)
In this game you get to play as one of the following: Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifburg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and they even brought back Bob Burnquist! You can also play as a custom player. (My personal favorite is Rodney Mullen)
Unlike the first 3 THPS games, in this one you don't have a time limit to do the objectives! Instead, you just skate up to people and press circle around them and they will ask you to do something. If you don't complete the objective you just press start and choose "Retry Last Goal" and you can try it again, saving time and not having to restart the level.
I really like the levels in this game. they are challenging and fun. I love the music in this game too, in fact, one of the songs is by my favorite band!
There's not much they could do to make it better. It's got great replay value, because you'll want to beat the game with each player! And you could just go for a free ride if you dont feel like doing objectives. I think this is the best THPS game so far.

Pretty Fun!

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 is a very fun and interesting game. But THPS4 lacked the magic THPS3 THPS2 and THPS put out in it's game play. First level (which is college) is very easy compared to the next 8 levels ahead. you may get a bit confused as a guy runs up to you at the start and tells you that you have to talk to people to get goals. Talk to people!? Okay... As the level progresses, you will notice as you veiw your goals, that some goals will be locked. Wow. You need to even find the people that give you goals (which may take a while) There are TONS of new tricks and fun things to do in THPS4, such as spine transforing, flat level ticks while manualing and a while lot of new and improved specials. My fav. is the one called.... awww yeah. I'd reccomend renting THPS4 before buying it.
It's one of those games where you either love it...... or hate it.
Well. . . cheerio.
Nice...

Well... I like this game unlike these other people who just don't know what the heck they're talking about. It's better than THPS3 and I like THPS3 alot. I hope this review was helpful.
Change is not always a good thing.......

Let me start off by saying that I love tony hawk video games. Ever since the first came out i had practiced at it and got really good. I had tony hawk 2 and 3 on reserve and got them the day they came out. It got better and better. Then came 4.... Well the graphics are good, but that is NOT everyting. I hate the fact that there is no two minute runs. I like that because i would love to try getting as many objectives done in the time given and even if i did no objectives, i would love getting a high score. But in this one u can do all the tricks u want and it will not matter. And u have to find people to do your objectives. And i heard it was rediculously hard at some points. A challenge is good, but a game like this is about having fun getting high scores and opening cheats and hidden characters, not getting pissed off at a dumb objective. My advice, if u have a ps2,gc,or xbox buy tony hawk 3, u will love it. And if u have an older system, then buy tony hawk 2. Don't waste time buying tony hawk 4, its not worth it.
Skate 4 ever

This is a very cool game I would have rated it 5 stars but I played it after underground. And undergound was better but this is still a sweet game. It's coooooooooooooooooooooooool!
