Good but not Great

3.0 / 5.0

The game is good. I admit I have not gotten very deep in the game because it has annoyed me to much for me to stay intrested in it. However its strongest point is the graphics. I own the PC version. I play it on a Laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64MB of video ram on a 14in SXGA screen and a 1.4GHz Intel Centrino processor. The game looks great and plays fast. (For those of you who only play console games you are missing out on the power of the PC) The storyline concept adds an interesting twist to the game that gives a little more motivation for winning. There is a good amount of options for tuning your car's settings for each race. The tuning options require some testing before you drive in a race because they can make or break your race, but they are not to hard to figure out. The biggest problem is the physics. Even in sim mode the cars handle a little unrealistically. I played F1 2002 for a long time and believe that the physics in that game are excellent. We all know how great the physics in all the GT games were. In Pro Race Driver there is no since of acceleration or deceleration. The car always feels like it is going the same speed whether you are going 150MPH or slamming on the breaks to enter a corner or mashing on the gas to exit the corner. You have to drive a near perfect race to win because there is no difficulty setting in career mode. The racing sounds are whack. There is also no qualifying before the race for starting grid positioning. You always start out in the 6th, 8th, or 9th spot. (And they call this a racing sim) One other of the things that irritated me is that the A.I. drivers are a little too aggressive at times. More often than not an A.I. controlled car vying for position would spin me off the track, many times causing me to hit a wall and severely damage my car. By the time I am able to get back on the track everyone has passed me and I have no chance of getting back into a respectable position in the race due to the vehicle damage and lack of feel for speed. If you were to ask me I would tell you not to waist your money on this one if you are a hardcore racing fan. Play f1 2002 and pray that GT4 is made available for the PC. if you are a casual racing fan that likes storyline twist in your games this is a good game for you. The week physics engine won't drive you crazy but the A.I. drivers might.

Best racing game out

5.0 / 5.0

It really boggles my mind that this game isn't selling that well. This is without a doubt the very best racing game out right now!! Not only do you race but there is a storyline behind the racing, something that no other racing game has. It is a completely realistic game unlike GT3. There is actual damage to your car when you wreck in this game and in GT3 you could hit cars all day and never get a scratch on your car.

Pro Race Driver is also very challenging it will take a while to get used to some of the road courses but once you learn the tracks and the physics of the car the game becomes a total blast to play. Pro Race Driver offers wall to wall racing from the very beginning to the very end, something most racing games can't say.

And one last thing that makes Pro Race Driver better than all the other racing games out there is all the cars are real and so are the tracks.

If there is one thing I would like to see improved it is the graphics. While the graphics are great and very realistic I don't think they are as good as the graphics in GT3. But trust me the game play in Pro Race Driver is much better than GT3 and that is all that matters right? If you are a race car fanatic then buy this game!! You will love it!!

Really good

5.0 / 5.0

I've owned them all . . . GT3, Pro Race Driver (PS2), Moto gp3, Project Gotham, Rallisport Challenge . . . and I really enjoy playing this game. I thought that it was good on the PS2 but it looks so much better on the Xbox. Also, the handling seems to be improved, meaning that you won't spin the tires as much in a turn and sending the back end around. Besides these differences, the game is almost identical to the PS2 version . . . which is fine. It's just fun to play. I believe even better than GT3.

Try it beofre you rate it!

At the end of the day this game is fun. Its not sim - - I think the physics are possibly its weakest point - but its still fun. The AI is aggressive, maybe a bit too eager to bump into you, but they don't blindly follow a perfect racing line.

Graphics are very nice - no problems there. Sounds are good too. At the end of the day it has more real tracks than any other game I know - some very tricky ones, and some cool cars too.

Doesnt look like either of the 2 reviewers so far have played it. My verdict - not perfect, but certainly not bad.

Don't believe everything you read!

The review from that guy "Daniel" from Barbados sounds like a "hype" job. It reads like the guy works for the company. This kind of stuff has happened with online movie reviews, and I'm sure it's going to happen with online gaming reviews. I'm looking forward to seeing what "Pro Race Driver" is like, but I'm not going to take "Daniel's" word on it.

Maybe i will try it out.Â* As for WiiWare we get Tiki Tower

Eat Sleep Play (Interview)

Interview with Jaffe and Campbell, founders of Eat Sleep Play. Covers a wide variety of topics. God of War 3, platform exclusivity, future projects, closing studios, among others. Interesting tidbit: Quote: Again, Scott had plenty to say concerning this topic, but it’s stuff they wish to keep under wraps right now. We can tell you a few things he said: first of all, they’re using the Warhawk engine as the basis for the game. This makes sense, of course, as Warhawk was an Incognito title.

There is “significant interest” in the purchase of Free Radical

ReSolve, the appointed administrator of Free Radical, has told Edge that there has already been a “significant interest” shown in the purchase of this video game developer. Free Radical was just officially placed into administration just a few hours after they refused entry to staff members. A number of companies were in Free Radical’s home city of Nottingham yesterday to say there goodbyes as “well over 100” people left the group. Realtime Worlds, Codemasters, Monumental and Eurocom were
