Another Cheap Fighter!

This game is extremely generic. Nothing like "Tekken Tag Tournament" or "Tekken 3". The fighters all have annoying cheesy lines before a fight. "Virtua FIghter 4" get's boring really fast. Save your money for a better fighter such as "Tekken Tag Tournament" or "Tekken 3".
A "Virtua" classic that has stood the test of time

As a whole, fighting games basically come in two flavors... realistic (as is the case with this game), or fantasy based, such as the Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter series. In Virtua fighter 4, players square off against a myriad of opponents, each having a different set of "skills" (for the most part, anyway) to showcase at your expense. From wrestling to Kung Fu, most of the popular styles have been included, which helps to form the backbone of this balanced fighting game. Even the infamous ninja character is present as expected. Sorry folks, but I can't imagine a martial arts inspired fighting game without one; it just isn't right in my book.
The programmers were kind enough to include a practitioner of the drunken kung fu style, whose antics and unconventional tactics are quite amusing to watch, yet just as deadly as the other styles when mastered. The overall game-play is pretty good, and a tutorial is included to teach people like me (who doesn't favor fighting games) how to combine the series of punches and kicks into something that will give me a 'fighting chance" at victory. I must warn you though, that some of the complex button sequences can take quite a bit of practice on your part. I've owned the game for several months now, and I'm still trying to learn all of the "combinations" that each character possesses. Button mashers may want to seek solace elsewhere, as Virtua Fighter 4 is a thinking person's game.
Visually, the game is impressive, especially when you consider that it was among the first generation games released for the Playstation 2 way back when. Even with other contenders on the market now, VF4 still towers above most of them. While Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is still my personal favorite in this category (with it's own set of complex button sequences to be memorized); it's hard not to like this recent installment of Virtua Fighter, even if the previous ones were less than stellar at times.

Virtua Fighter4 is kick!!

This is one of the best fighting games I have ever played. The graphics are the bomb and it looks really cool. The fighters are also awesome. The fighting styles are amazing such as Jeet Kune Doo,Koen-Ken,Drunken Kung-Fu,Ensei-Ken,and a whole lot more. The fighting combos are so cool, and everyone has a list of cool moves and things you can do to kick the [stuffing]out of people. The only thing that will make you think 'oh how gay' would be reading the instruction manuel's character bios.Like Wolf Hawkfield,he entered to tourament because of "recurring nightmares of the apocalypse". You sit there thinking what? The bios are really stupid, but the characters are awesome. You must master the fighting styles of the characters and become the best. You can create a character in the datafiles and challenge your skills against the people in the Kumite mode. This is by far the best fighting game, and I reccommend it to all you lovers of fighting video games and everyone else who have not played this game.
Great Game! Must Have for Hardcore Fighting Gamers!!!

First time I was impressed by a fighting game. All the moves of each character are accurate to its fighting styles. The fluid Shaolin fighting style, the powerful and fast Crane/Tiger style, the versatile Ninjitsu, the unpredictable Drunken Fist and one of my favorites, Aiki ju-jutsu, the ultimate defensive fighting style. This is the first fighting game that I've seen to pull off a defensive fighting style accurately and effectively. The game comes with a robust manual containing a list of each character's moves. There are over 30 moves per character, multiple stances, a good variety of counters and reversals.
In addition to fighting your way through the arcade mode or Kumite mode. The AI training mode offers the player a chance to role play as a fighter coach. Train your AI to fight for you in the Kumite mode or to fight against other player's AI. Rise in rank and get special items to customize your fighter's wardrobe.
Be aware, those of you who button mash through other fighting games like Dead or Alive. Button mashing will only get you through the first couple of rounds in Virtua Fighter 4. Advance moves can take seven button strokes, and that's not including chaining special moves together to create combos.
Virtua Figher 4 is a must for anyone interested in a "serious" fighting game or is practicing martial arts.
great balance in fighting...but.

it has almost every thing arcade vf fans would want
hey ,me my self and vf ? we go back to the early 90s
it was sensational ,revolutionary back then...
but since ps2 is my first console machine and iwas
thrilled to get my hands on vf4 guess what...29inch LG progressive
tv i have ...seems to reproduce tekkens pro
-gressive mode very nice... but the sophisticated moves and
feel of vf4 seemed to be burried by the less optimem graphics
of vf4...if vf 4 has progressive compatibility it would be quite
sweet. but at this time what i can say for sure is ,
if u want to kick...at arcade practice at home with vf4.
and vf4 evolution is already out in japan and graphics has
evolved with many other features...but when it comes to simple
fighting well balanced joy...buy it ,you have nothing to lose.
i gave 3stars because of the graphics otherwise 5.
