this game is by far one of the best racers ever. i loved the first hot pursuit. i liked how you earned money to fix/upgrade your car after winning a race. this did not return for the second hot pursuit game, but they kept everything else good about the game. there are great graphics, especially if you played the computer version first. much better version on the ps2. the cars are great, and the cops are ruthless. while this game is very well made, they could have added more to it to make it more intertaining, like maybe more speech from the police, you know, commical stuff. you will get many hours of sheer joy playing this game. the gameplay itself is very good. you can plan to take a shortcut or other way to get around roadblocks and completely through the police off. the slowmotion on jumps and crashes are also very intertaining. in my opinion the ps2 has the two best racing games, this one and gran turismo 3.

This is a great game. If you are looking for a racing game, but don't know which one, pick this one. It has two modes:
Hot Pursuit: race against the cops and against other people or you can even be the cops and pull over the road racers.
World Racing: Your normal everyday racing mode with AWESOME cars.
Both modes have a championship event tree. each event tree is like a tournament bracket, but if you lose you are not out. you just keep trying. each event (when you win it) will lead to another event with different challenges and different cars and courses to unlock. drive great cars such as the Lambourghini Murcielago, the Dodge Viper, the Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR, the McLaren F1, and so many more cars with different challenges to unlock them. As you're racing you even get great songs such as "People That We Love" by Bush, "Keep It Coming" by Uncle Kracker, and more songs.

one good game
This is the best racing game ever. I'm sure I've rented it at least 3 times, and played it at least 20, and it still isn't boring! I think all racing gamers should try this game.

NFS:2 = My Favorite Car Racing Game
NFS:2 is one of the most fun driving/racing games to hit PS2 in years. Sure Grand Turismo set the mark several years back... but NFS:2 is blood pumping, arcade style, simplistic, brainless FUN. Incredible graphics with amazing reflections and lighting effects (the sun does get in your eyes). Cops trying to bust you for speeding and wreckless driving with road blocks, spike strips and helicopters dropping exploding barrels. 49 different cars (if the Porsche is available in the early stages GRAB IT). 24 different tracks. All kinds of weather conditions. Semi-realistic crashes with real damage to your cars. Several different challenge modes with the best being "You're The Cop". Cool replays with perfect camera angles. Slow motion 360 degree shots of your car plowing thru police road blocks. Jump cams. Simple controls... anyone can play. Great music & sound effects. Not one thing wrong with this game!
