Description
Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo sits at or near the top of most "best video games" lists for a reason. At the time of its release, it was a dramatic evolution of the side-scrolling Mario series of action-adventure games, incorporating every gameplay element that worked in the older titles while adding a seemingly endless supply of new tricks. This new feature-complete version of Super Mario World for the Game Boy Advance proves just how timeless designer Shigeru Miyamoto's 1991 classic really is.
In true Miyamoto fashion, the game starts with simple running and jumping and gradually gets more complex. Soon, you're swimming, flying, tossing fireballs, and riding one of several Yoshis--cute little dinosaurs--that appear throughout the game. The overall level design has yet to be exceeded in a 2-D platformer, with each colorful level packed with enough secrets to keep players busy for weeks. A lot of precision jumping is required, but the controls are so tight that directing Mario (or even Luigi, who wasn't playable in the original) becomes as natural as breathing within a few minutes of playing.
As if packing the entire original game onto the tiny cartridge wasn't enough, Nintendo also put two multiplayer versions of the original Mario Brothers in there, which are playable solo or with up to three other people using Game Link cables to connect all your Game Boy Advance systems. Both variants are a blast, but the single-player adventure is what kept us coming back for more. If you missed it 10 years ago when Super Mario World appeared on the Super Nintendo, don't make the same mistake twice. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- The game is very replayable thanks to multiple level exits
- Surgically precise controls
- Outstanding level designs that never get old
- Speech effects that were added for Mario and Luigi get old fast

One of the best Mario games of all time

This is the original Super Mario World game from Super NES but now transformed into a Gameboy world. This game is awesome and one of the best in the Mario series (Super Mario Bros. 3 first and tied with Super Mario 64). It's a much better play if you have the Gameboy Player for Gamecube so you can play it on the big screen just like old times but either way, this game will have you playing for hours on end.
The best features about this game are the fact that you can be both Mario and Luigi, have Yoshi (in 5 different colours I might add) and the exclaimation mark stages, the first one (yellow) is the best. This game has so many stages and secrets. The Star World is awesome, especially the Special Stage World, I wish they still made games like this one.
Treading similar waters, this time Mario has a cape and can fly, a lot longer than in Super Mario Bros. 3 where you have the tail and can only fly for a limited time. In this game you can fly over the whole stage...if you want but what would be the point of that? The cape is one of the best items to ever grace the Mario series.
The whole walk through, through Dinosaur Land is awesome, you go through many areas like the Cave and a Forest. I also like the secret level where you can easily go get Yoshi and a couple of mushrooms/flowers or capes...whichever floats your boat. Another great secret is the one stage where you can get 45-50 lives, this should last you the rest of the game. Butter bridge is one of the harder levels, you'll need those lives and where the "cheat" level is located, you should be using them real soon.
In all, this is an amazing game, there isn't much more I have to say, just buy it and you'll understand. An excellent classic and Mario is the best hero ever (well, second to Link). Enjoy.
Welcome back to Dinosaur Land

Has it really been 14 years? The same game that I remembered getting the Christmas it came out, it bundled with the Super Nintendo, it being the game I was unable to put down? The same game I played at 6 or 7, coming back to me now at 20?
Yes. And still every bit as enjoyable - though easier to clear this time around.
The shining masterpiece of Mario gameplay, the pinnacle of platform gaming: Super Mario World. Why didn't I buy you sooner? I missed your fun gameplay, your expansive levels, your multicolored Yoshi pals, your secrets, your everything.
Oh, hi. Buy this game.
Why? It is everything a platform game should be, and now it can fit in the palm of your hand (or you can stick it in your Gameboy Player and remember the olden golden days). 96 goals to clear, hundreds of Dragon Coins to collect, a huge worldmap.. SMW should be in every game enthusiast's library. The colorful graphics are top-notch, the controls are so tight they're second nature, the music is fun and takes a while to get on your nerves (especially in the @&@#(!## Special World level where you have to float Balloon Mario across the map and no I swear it didn't take me over 30 tries).
Updates. Luigi is no longer purple! There's a new intro explaining how Peach gets captured this time. The majority of levels have Dragon Coins, including castles and ghost houses, and the game keeps track of them. Once you collect them all, you'll get a neato surprise. You can now modify the color of Yoshi you get. Once you clear all 96 goals, you can warp to whatever level you wish using the new staus screen that shows you how many Dragon Coins you've collected on each level, all the goals you've gone through, and if you beat the level using Mario or Luigi. Yeah, you can choose to play as Luigi now. He's got his wiggly jump from the GBA Super Mario 2. I haven't used him cos it's akin to sacrilige, so I can't tell you if playing him is any fun or not.
But this game is most certainly fun. Please, please buy it if you haven't already. I personally guarantee you will not regret owning this classic piece of console history.
The most faithful translation of a game from SNES to GBA

Out of all the Marios for the Game Boy Advance, this is the one that converted most faithfully to the GBA from the SNES. The capabilities between the two systems are extremely similar. This game is incredible. You have over a 100+ plus levels to go through, and many hidden ones. It's difficult enough to keep you going at it, but easy enough that you don't get up and throw your GBA out the window. Deciding what world to go to is a huge benefit in this game. At any given point you can decide which world to go to next, and it doesn't have to be the most straight forward. Everyone has a different strategy to this. The addition of Yoshi in SMW was always one of the big draws to this game, and I believe that still rings true. If you are looking for a platformer for your GBA, this would be my #1 recommendation!
Great Game! Really Fun!

I Bought This Game About A Month Ago, And Have Been Playing Non-stop Since Then! It's A Great Buy, And Well Worth The Money... The Main Thing I Like About It Is The Fact That You Can Repeat Levels... This Allows You To Get More Practice, And Earn The Extra Lives Your Going To Need In The Later Levels... It's Really A Wonderful And Entertaining Game.
Awesome Video Game!

I had the original Game Boy Advance since March 2002. I bought the original Game Boy Advance at Target for $69.99 and the game for $29.99, so that will be a total of $99.98. I liked the video game. I also liked the characters. The main goal is to rescue the princess that is captured by Bowser. My cousin Adrian and my girlfriends like to play this video game, too.
