Description

Final Fantasy X is the first title in this landmark RPG series to be released for the PlayStation2. The main characters are Tidus, a star of blitzball (a hugely popular sport in the Final Fantasy universe), and Yuna, who has learned the art of summoning and controlling aeons, powerful spirits of yore. These two people of different backgrounds must work together as they journey through the world of Spira. This installment of Final Fantasy has a distinctly Asian influence, bringing a fresh feel to the characters, music, settings, and story.

Features include voice-overs for the first time in the series (utilizing the Facial Motion System), high-polygon, motion-captured player characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura, and a camera that automatically adjusts its perspective to correspond with the movements of the characters--a feature now possible because the game is largely polygonal.

First in the Final Fantasy series on PS2... SUCCESS.

5.0 / 5.0

Square Enix continues to awe us with their movie-worthy plotlines, stunning visuals and realistic characters.

The first of the series to be released on PS2, it's no surprise that Final Fantasy X became such a popular hit. With a better platform system than the Playstation, the gamemakers were able to go further with their signature photo-realistic CGIs. The cutscenes were breathtakingly beautiful, and even the gameplay graphics weren't too shabby. (although by FFXII, the gameplay graphics are cleaned up almost entirely)

Tidus can come off as an annoying main character at first. But soon, many will find it in their hearts to sympathize with him for being taken away from his home, forced to fight in a foreign land with no hopes of getting back. Yuna is the self-sacrificing, kind girl who falls in love with Tidus, and he with her. Their romance is something that causes many squeals, laughs and tears. Their kiss cutscene was AMAZING. It's one of my favourite scenes in the entire Final Fantasy series.

The music was well done, too. Especially the "To Zanarkand" piece, which was a very nice piece. "Suteki dane," a song by the singer Rikki, was kept in Japanese, which was a pleasant surprise. On the other hand, the voice-acting (English) could have been a little better. Especially Yuna; there were MANY moments where I visibly cringed at the lack of emotion in her voice. The other characters were generally well-done, though.

Overall, this was a stunning piece of art and a very entertaining game to play. A must-have for appreciators of both aspects!

Amazing

5.0 / 5.0

I could go on for an hour, but that would waste both our time. Everything is perfect; the music, the characters, the style and graphics.

If you haven't already, get it. The only way I could see someone not enjoying this game is if they purposely tried not to. And there is always people with bad taste, of course.

More fantastic fun from Squaresoft.

This first Final Fantasy game for the P2 lives up to its predecessors and then passes them. The story centres around Tidus, a star blitzball player, who is transported a thousand years into the future. The simple story of the game is that he has to discover why he has been sent through time and also to discover if there is a way back for him.
As with all of the FF games, he travels through different lands, gaining strength and skills and eventually joining up with the various people who will help him on his quest. As with the others in the series, each of these characters have different skills and abilities. Some are stronger with swords or staffs, others are better with magic. As well as travelling the different lands of the world Tidus and Co have to solve various side quests, some easier than others. While some of these side quests are necessary to progress through the game, others are optional. Chocobos make their usual appearance but are only a minor part of the game. The major, and most difficult side quest is learning to play a game called Blitzball...necessary for one of the major characters to gain his ultimate weapon.
The graphics in this game are fantastic but the video clips can become tedious if you play the game more than once and some of them are too lengthy... I would rather play the game than watch it. Another tiny criticism is that the fights are still turn based but that aside, the rest of the game is so good that it doesn't really matter. All in all this is a worthwhile game to own and play and certainly up to the usual standard you would expect from Squaresoft.

Mario Party

Mario Party User Reviews 5 Stars simple, but so much fun I’m more of a simple video game type of person. And i love this game. I remember playing it years ago and still like to take a stab at it every now and then. Love it. 3 Stars Worst of the Series I love Mario and all of his stuff, but I honestly think that the first Mario Party is the worst of the Mario Party series. These graphics are medoicre for a N64. Super Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time had better graphics. Compared to

The Barnyard Wii

The Barnyard Wii User Ratings and Reviews 4 Stars Good choice for 8+ years My two girls (8 & 10) play this a fair bit (almost as much as Mario Party). Doing wheelies everywhere on the bike is a favorite. Some of the mini-games are initially “too hard”, but eventually they get through them, and are very pleased with themselves. It has exploration, collection, cooking, slapstick, and puzzles. You have to “get past” the milk-squirting imagery, and the fact that both genders have udder
