Customer Reviews
HI-YA!

Yes, the official fighting phrase of the GameCube game, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Though the name may sound a tad bit pathetic, the game is loaded with unbelievable tactics that is fun to play and challenging enough to compete without getting bored. All the action of the fun Nintendo characters put into a "boxing ring", and it's so much fun! There are so many characters, levels, and trophies that it's hard to imagine a GameCube game could be this intense!
Characters in a game play a big part for what customers want to buy. Since there are plenty of Nintendo characters put into this game, and some that need to be unlocked, it's interesting to see how each innocent or mad character will act. Since every character has his or her own unique power to beat another character up, it's hard not to want to play. The game has a set up that every so often, or after how many battles are completed, you can unlock characters. However, in order to unlock it, you have to successfully beat the character to gain it. You also have to complete certain tasks in order for some characters to be unlocked, i.e. beating the classic part of the game a certain amount of times with certain characters.
Unlocking characters is one thing, but unlocking new levels is a totally new experience as well. In order to unlock a new level, you have to play the game as you would to unlock a character; however, sometimes you have to grab certain trophies to gain the level as well. The levels are categorized by toughness. Some are very plain and simple, others are complicating and distracting...sometimes even annoying! Though that may be the case, you will eventually have to play in that level to excel.
This game is very entertaining. It's a mixture of cuteness with toughness, and it always surprises you. You can play the game for entertainment, to relieve yourself from boredom, or even to get your aggression out...since you're going to be beating characters up! It's a must.
Though this game is amazing and totally awesome, the game could also be a bit more challenging to beat. Sometimes to beat a part of the game, you only have to complete a series of 10 battles, and it gets a little too easy after a while. There are options of putting the components on a level of very easy to a level of very hard, and sometimes its way too easy to beat. Unlocking characters takes up a lot of time as well, even if it may be super fun. And, the last thing that could have been better is the bonus levels throughout the game. They aren't very challenging and can be boring after a while. There could have been a bit more selection of them.
Now, even though there could be improvements towards this game, it is amazing. For a GameCube game, yes....it truly has got some great to perfect qualities. I recommend this game to any fan of Nintendo characters, fighting games, and for fans who are looking for a fun yet challenging game.
Button Mashing Paradise!

This is probably the best GCN fighting game for button mashing! If you've never played the original, this game has a lot more features in it, and is better, since it has more options.
Even though it came out in 2001, I still play it sometimes, sometimes even alone just to tackle Very Hard mode, that's how addictive it is still!
In this version you can also enter a custom name up to 4 characters. Another great feature is setting handicaps if someone is a lot better/worse then you to make it even, or making teams.
You can even create up to 3 extra bots (Or 4 if you're really bored), and set their difficulty from 1 to 9 (Recommended is 6-9 for a challenge)
The characters range from Mario to the near-unheard of Earthbound and Ice Climber.
5 stars for fun
5 stars overall
If you don't have a gamecube, hurry up and buy this!
Seems like a lot of button mashing

I was a huge fan of the original Smash Bros but this one just doesn't do it for me. It seems like it's overly difficult to advance beyond random button mashing.
Awesome game!

If you get a Gamecube, definitely buy this game! It really rocks; it's basically a trip through everything Nintendo when you play it!
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I really would! :)
